5 Ways to Heal your Adrenals

Are you constantly tired?

Reaching for that second or third cup of coffee for a pick-me-up?

Do you hit the snooze button three or four times before finally dragging yourself out of bed?

Do you get that afternoon crash between 2- 4 pm and reach for sugar or caffeine?

Fatigue is the most common symptom I come across in my clinic and there can be many underlying issues at play. A major area affecting many people is poor adrenal function.

The adrenal glands release cortisol – our stress and energy hormone, and are responsible for so much- including energy, libido, blood pressure and mood.

Chronic stress has a significant impact on when and how much cortisol your body makes.

Managing chronic stress is the first step to improving your adrenal function.

1. Adequate and regular sleep

We need adequate sleep to restore our adrenal glands and feel our best each day. Most of us need 7-9 hours of sleep each night. Listen to your internal clock and prioritise sleep. If you have ongoing sleep issues, seek natural support to improve this essential part of well-being!

2. Gentle exercise

Exercise is restorative and invigorating to the adrenal glands . It can also boost endorphins, relieve stress, lower blood pressure and boost your immune system, Whatever form of exercise you do- be it yoga, walking, running or even dancing- it should be fun! Finding some form of sustainable exercise in your life will increase your energy.

3. Diet

Eat a nutrient rich, anti-inflammatory diet and drink plenty of water!

4. Reduce stress..

…where you can- say “no” more often, find some quiet time in your day, practice mindfulness or meditation, laugh and listen to music.

5. Get outside

Get into nature! Research supports how getting outside, into nature reduces stress and promotes well-being.

Life is stressful- but you can take control!

Its tough to live the life you want when you’re tired.
