Sciatica
Caused by compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve (a nerve within the buttock, running down the leg), sciatica is a painful condition with symptoms including:
- pain in the buttock or down the leg
- numbness
- muscular weakness
- pins and needles or tingling
- difficulty moving or controlling the leg
Sciatica could be the consequence of a number of underlying conditions and causes. Osteopaths work to identify and treat these underlying conditions, initially by conducting a full musculoskeletal and orthopedic examination.
