Mummy MOT

At West Perth Osteopathy, it is our mission to treat everyone as though they were members of our own family

Mummy MOT®

At West Perth Osteopathy, we offer the Mummy MOT®, a specialist postnatal assessment designed to support your recovery after pregnancy and birth.

Whether you are newly postpartum or months (or years) after having your baby, the Mummy MOT® helps identify and address common postnatal concerns such as abdominal separation, pelvic floor weakness, pain, and reduced core strength.

Our goal is to help Perth mums recover safely, feel stronger, and return to exercise and daily activities with confidence.

How Osteopathy Helps After Pregnancy

Pregnancy, birth, feeding, and caring for a newborn place significant physical demands on your body.

Our osteopathic approach may include:

  • Gentle hands-on treatment to improve joint mobility and reduce muscle tension

  • Individualised core and pelvic floor exercises

  • Advice on lifting, feeding posture, and daily activities

  • Treatment for postnatal back pain, pelvic pain, neck pain, and shoulder tension

  • Support to safely return to walking, gym, or sport

This whole-body approach supports your recovery and helps prevent longer-term problems.

What is a Mummy MOT®?

The Mummy MOT® is a detailed postnatal assessment for women following vaginal or caesarean birth. It is recommended from 6 weeks postpartum onwards, but can be beneficial at any stage after pregnancy.

Your assessment includes:

  • Screening for abdominal separation (diastasis recti)

  • Assessment of pelvic floor function

  • Evaluation of core strength and stability

  • Postural and movement analysis

  • Assessment of back, neck, pelvic, or hip pain

  • Review of caesarean or perineal scar healing

  • Guidance for a safe return to exercise, running, or gym

You will receive a personalised rehabilitation plan tailored to your recovery goals and lifestyle.

Who is the Mummy MOT® for?

A Mummy MOT® assessment may help if you:

  • Are 6 weeks or more postpartum

  • Have abdominal separation or a persistent “tummy gap”

  • Experience pelvic floor weakness, heaviness, or leakage

  • Have back, pelvic, hip, or neck pain after pregnancy

  • Feel weak through your core or unstable with movement

  • Want professional guidance before returning to exercise or running

  • Had your baby months or years ago and never had a postnatal check

It is never too late to improve your recovery.
